Create New Media

I.C.E. CMS supports the following Media types: Images [GIF, JPG, PNG], Videos [MPEG, AVI, WMA, FLV, Quicktime], Flash [SWF], Audio [Any Audio File] and Documents [TXT, PDF, DOC, RTF, PPT, XLS]. Media files can be added to your site in 2 ways.

1. Add Media to the database to be used by Pages
2. Upload Media to the server to be used by your Channel templates or inserted into Pages using the WYSIWYG HTML Editor (see Uploading Files)

The important difference between the two is that media added to the database can be called dynamically within your dynamic content code (e.g. an image associated with an article) and media uploaded to the server are accessed directly within your HTML code (e.g. a logo used in a Channel template).

Below is a description of how to add Media to the database for assigning to Site Pages.

Create Image

Select Image in the Create drop down. Enter an Image Name, a Caption and select the File from your local machine. Enter Alt Text if necessary. Select a Status of Active. If this Image is for a specific language version of your site, select a Language and click the Save button. 

Create Flash

Select Flash in the Create drop down. Enter Flash Title, Caption and select the File from your local machine. Select a Status of Active. If this Flash file is for a specific language version of your site, select a Language and click the Save button. 

Create Video

Select Video in the Create drop down. Enter a Video Title, Caption and select the File from your local machine. Alternatively, you can enter the Embed Code for a video or enter a Video URL. Select a Status of Active. If this Video is for a specific language version of your site, select a Language and click the Save button. 

Create Audio

Select Audio in the Create drop down. Enter an Audio Title, Caption and select the File from your local machine. Alternatively you may enter an Audio URL. Select a Status of Active. If this Audio is for a specific language version of your site, select a Language and click the Save button. 

Create Document

Select Document in the Create drop down. Enter a Document Title, Caption and select the File from your local machine. Select a Status of Active. If this Audio is for a specific language version of your site, select a Language and click the Save button.
